Paris-Rome by train and bike with BASTILLE, here we go.
Bastille is the first really good folding bike with big wheels. I like to make my travels an adventure and take the opportunity to discover lots of things along the way.
I set off from the Place de la Bastille for the wink, then I have a coffee at Steel Bike Shop, and I stop off at Zingam to buy myself a nice picnic before the night train to Nice. I love the night train, so I fold up the bike and stow it behind the ladder in the top bunk.
I wake up by the sea and get off at Nice Ville. After riding on Promenade des Anglais, I have a breakfast at the café du cycliste and I buy a sandwich at 21 Paysans, the old-fashioned grocery shop. A quick fold and I start a 50-minute train journey to Ventimiglia. Unfolding: Italy, the sea, happiness, here we go for 40km on the flower cycle path along the sea to Imperia. Here, summer never ends. I have an iced coffee and a well-deserved swim. This former railway line is paradise for cyclists.
I jump on an Intercity train to Milan, where I meet up with some friends for dinner, have a good schnitzel and a good night's sleep at my little brother's. When I wake up, I have a coffee at the Orso Nero, say hello to the Duomo and it's time to hop on the TGV to Rome.
It's midday and I'm back in my beloved eternal city. I have a brunch at Forno Conti, ride along the Fori Imperiali and it's time to fold up my bike in front of San Pietro for the next adventure.
