Maintenance advice.
To ensure the best possible experience, we recommend that you have your bike serviced at least twice a year by our BASTILLE retailers.
The Bastille bike is fitted with many standard components that can be fixed or replaced easily.
The Bastille is fitted with a drive belt. Keep the belt clean at all times to avoid accelerating wear. If you notice that it is becoming dirty, you can wash it with a brush and water, particularly the sprocket and chainring. Check the belt tension regularly at your bike shop.
The Bastille is fitted with hydraulic disc brakes. If you find the brakes less effective, we advise you to contact your dealer. You can, however, check the condition of the brake pads and discs yourself. If the pads need changing, replace them only with compatible pads.
The cable tension of the gear hub can go out of adjustment and needs to be checked from time to time. You can go to your bike shop or adjust it yourself:
On the Nexus Shimano 7-speed, check the alignment between the 2 yellow lines in gear 4. To adjust, screw or unscrew the brake lever adjustment knob.
On the Sturmey Archer 3-speed, check the alignment between the 2 yellow lines in gear 2. To adjust, screw or unscrew the brake lever adjustment knob.
Tyres are consumables and must be replaced in good time. We recommend that you check their condition regularly. If you need to replace them, you can choose size 42-584 tyres, or vary the thickness if you prefer road tyres. If the tubes need replacing, use size 40-584 tubes. If you have to remove the wheels from the bike, reassemble the front wheel with a torque of 5 to 6 Nm, and the rear wheel with a torque of 35 Nm.
If you need to clean your bike, we recommend using a damp cloth.

Our specialist retailers are on hand to provide you with a fast, personalised solution to any problems you may encounter.
